1. Prioritize Revealing Hidden Cards

The most important strategy in solitaire is to expose face-down cards in the tableau. These hidden cards limit your options, so revealing them should be your top priority. Always look for moves that will uncover a face-down card, even if it means delaying a move to the foundation.

2. Build Foundations Early (But Not Always)

Moving Aces and low cards to foundations early can be helpful, but don't do it automatically. Sometimes, keeping a low card in the tableau is more valuable if it helps you reveal hidden cards or create empty columns. Evaluate each move carefully.

3. Create Empty Columns Strategically

Empty tableau columns are powerful tools. They allow you to move Kings and create new sequences. Try to create empty columns early in the game, but don't rush—make sure you have a King available to place there, or you'll waste the opportunity.

4. Think Multiple Moves Ahead

Before making a move, consider what it will enable or prevent. Ask yourself:

• Will this move reveal a hidden card?
• Will this move block future moves?
• Can I make a better sequence by waiting?
• Does this move help create an empty column?

5. Use the Stock Pile Wisely

Don't cycle through the stock pile too quickly. Each time you reset the stock, you're essentially losing access to cards temporarily. Try to use cards from the waste pile before turning over new ones. Only reset when you've exhausted all other options.

6. Build Long Sequences When Possible

Longer sequences in the tableau give you more flexibility. When you can build a longer sequence by combining cards from different columns, do it. This creates more options for future moves and helps reveal hidden cards.

7. Don't Always Move to Foundations Immediately

While foundations are the goal, sometimes keeping a card in the tableau is more strategic. If moving a card to a foundation would block a sequence or prevent you from revealing a hidden card, consider leaving it in the tableau temporarily.

8. Pay Attention to Card Colors

Since tableau building requires alternating colors, pay close attention to the color distribution. If you have many red cards in one area, you'll need black cards to build on them. Plan your moves with color balance in mind.

9. Undo and Redo Strategically

If you're playing a version with undo capability, use it to explore different move sequences. Sometimes trying a different approach reveals better options. Don't be afraid to backtrack and try alternative strategies.

10. Practice and Patience

Solitaire involves both skill and luck. Even with perfect strategy, some games are unwinnable due to the initial deal. Don't get discouraged by losses. Focus on making the best possible moves in each situation, and your win rate will improve over time.
